expressed gratitude to Chinese colleagues for their words of sympathy and support for the Russian people following the tragedy — the horrific terrorist attack.

The Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma recalled that, in accordance with the instructions of Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
, there had been created a permanent working group on biosafety issues in the Parliament. “I propose to develop an action plan in the near future and hold a joint discussion within the framework of the group of legislative approaches to strengthening biological safety,” she said.

Irina Yarovaya also recalled that in 2021 there was adopted a joint statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China on strengthening the regime of the Biological Weapons Convention (BTWC).

“We propose to consider the possibility of adopting a joint statement by the Inter-parliamentary Commission on strengthening the BTWC regime and preventing the proliferation of biological weapons in the world,” Irina Yarovaya addressed the representatives of China.

“Together, we can make a significant contribution to the protection of our countries and the world by cooperating more closely on development of legislative basis for addressing the most important strategic issue — preventing biological threats. We must prevent the emergence of a new type of terrorism – bioterrorism,” emphasized the parliamentarian.

The Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma thanked her Chinese colleagues for their support of the results of the parliamentary investigation into the activities of the US laboratories on the territory of Ukraine and their urgent call to the United States to provide comprehensive explanations concerning all its military-biological activities on its territory and abroad.

“Viruses and pathogens collected on the territory of Ukraine were sent to the United States and Western countries by diplomatic mail service for further modification and increasing their hazardous characteristics. What exactly and for what purpose was returned to Ukraine through the same diplomatic channels is a question that should raise concerns in the whole world. I am convinced that the position of the leaders of our countries, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, on creating equal and indivisible security in the world is the only right guideline for us in preventing modern threats, assessing them and countering them together,” said Irina Yarovaya.

Following the meeting of the working group, the Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma noted a very constructive and interested dialogue: “We and our Chinese colleagues share the same views on threats assessments; there has been done a very productive work on the exchange of legislative experience between the two countries.”
