Vyacheslav Volodin held a meeting with Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua for Russian Affairs Laureano Ortega Murillo

Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast) held a meeting with the Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua for Russian Affairs Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo at the State Duma.

They discussed the relevant issues of cooperation between Russia and Nicaragua within the parliamentary dimension.

Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized that “we have already done a lot: the inter-parliamentary dialogue has been significantly enhanced”. He recalled that the first meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma and the National Assembly of Nicaragua was held in October, where were discussed joint initiatives in the field of industry and agriculture.

“We should continue to implement new formats and do everything to reach concrete results in our work,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.

According to the Chairman of the State Duma, economic cooperation is actively developing: at the end of 2023, “the trade turnover between Russia and Nicaragua increased by 54%.” Work aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation must be continued, as added Vyacheslav Volodin.

The Republic is interested in cooperation with Russia, especially in such areas as finance, healthcare and security, according to the Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua.

“We want to make our own contribution to de-dollarization, jointly promoting the end of the dollar hegemony, and taking actions for creation of a more balanced financial system,” added Laureano Ortega Murillo.

“We are witnessing the birth of a new world order with great hope, and Russia is among the leaders. In this matter, we would like to emphasize that Nicaragua is a strategic ally of Russia in Central America. The goals of the United States and NATO to destroy the Russian Federation are very clear. But they will never succeed,” said the Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua.

An agreement on creation of a Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma and the National Assembly of the Republic of Nicaragua was signed at the International Conference “Russia – Latin America”, there was also held its first meeting.
