Vyacheslav Victorovich The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast) met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji in Beijing.

They discussed issues of development of inter-parliamentary relations between Russia and China, first of all, issues of providing legislative support to the decisions adopted by Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.

Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized that relations between Russia and China were comprehensive, their level was set by the heads of states — Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. The parliamentarians of the two countries, for their part, should do everything to provide legislative support on the issues of bilateral cooperation in the interests of the two nations.

“We, on our part, should do everything to legislatively consolidate the decisions taken by the President of our country, Vladimir Putin, and the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, who are doing a lot. They have made such a great contribution that our relations have reached the highest mutual understanding,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.

The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that the relationship between the heads of states showed that Russia and China “are more than strategic partners.” Parliamentarians should make their own contribution too, as added Vyacheslav Volodin.

“The created high-level inter-parliamentary commission allows us to discuss specific issues not only in the field of lawmaking, but also to more actively provide support to executive authorities for the development of our relations,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

Zhao Leji assured that the NPC Standing Committee was also ready to do everything to develop inter-parliamentary cooperation with Russian colleagues.

“Under the strategic leadership of President of China Xi Jinping and President of Russia Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relations maintain the good development dynamics,” said the Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.

During the meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin invited Zhao Leji to pay an official visit to Moscow. The Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee accepted the invitation with gratitude.

On November 21–23, Vyacheslav Volodin and the delegation of the State Duma are paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China. They are in Beijing and they will also visit Nanjing. Earlier, Vyacheslav Volodin and members of the State Duma laid flowers at the Monument to the People's Heroes and visited the Museum of the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing.
