The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
recalled in his Telegram channel that 10 years ago Washington and Brussels started to impose illegal sanctions against Russia.

The results of the last pre-sanctions year 2012 showed that the list of the top largest world economies (GDP based on PPP according to the World Bank data) included the USA, China, India, Japan, Germany, Russia, Brazil, France, Great Britain, Indonesia, as noted Vyacheslav Volodin. The top 10 largest world economies in 2022 were China, the USA, India, Japan, Russia, Germany, Indonesia, Brazil, France, Great Britain.

“The sanctions boomerang hit the initiators. The USA lost its economic leadership, but the European states were affected even more. Germany is no longer among the top 5 economies, France and Great Britain dropped to 9th and 10th places respectively. In 2012 Ukraine was the 38th economy. Then it dropped to the 50th place,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.

Washington did not spare its allies, trying to maintain its hegemony at their expense, as added the Chairman of the State Duma.

“Despite more than 17.5 thousand sanctions, Russia has become the European largest economy over those 10 years and now is in the list of top 5 world economies”, emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

The challenges made us stronger, but there are still a lot of issues to deal with, according to the Chairman of the State Duma.

“As our President Vladimir Putin emphasized, we need a proactive economy. To build it, it is necessary to support the domestic manufacturer, strengthen technological sovereignty, create new modern industrial capacities and advanced technology industries”, stressed Vyacheslav Volodin. “In this regard, it is important to build an effective dialogue with representatives of business community”, he added.

According to him, in October, the State Duma plans to hold big parliamentary hearings on issues of development of small and medium-sized enterprises. The Chairman of the State Duma proposed to send him questions on that issue in the comments section.
