Facundo Ortega Murillo in St. Petersburg.
The meeting participants discussed issues related to enhancement of cooperation between Russia and Nicaragua within the framework of the parliamentary dimension.
Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that friendship between the two countries had been tested by time and was built on the principle of mutual respect.
“Common challenges unite and help us see whether we can feel support and friend’s shoulder in a difficult situation or not,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
“We stand for multipolar world, for building a just world order. We stand against any forms of restraining development and we understand that only independent states have prospects, only sovereign nations are able to plan their future,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
He noted the importance of developing new forms of cooperation for development of relations between Russia and Nicaragua.
“We have agreed to create an inter-parliamentary commission to consider issues related to development of relations in the interests of our nations,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
Vyacheslav Volodin recalled that it is planned to hold the International Parliamentary Conference “Russia – Latin America” on September 29-October 2 in Moscow, and the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Nicaragua and Laureano Ortega Murillo were invited to take part in the event.
Laureano Ortega Murillo stressed that the delegation of Nicaragua was taking part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum once again to show its fraternal relations and solidarity with the Russian Federation. “We, together with Russia, have been taking part in the fight for sovereignty and multipolar world,” he said.
“We are impressed by the number of participants here and the high level of the event. Russia is not isolated from the rest of the world,” stressed the Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua for Russian Affairs.
Laureano Ortega Murillo also noted the development of cooperation in such areas as trade, economy, science, and technologies.
“We are very glad and proud of our strategic cooperation with Russia in such areas as healthcare, pharmaceutical and food security and sovereignty, as well as transport and infrastructure,” he added.
