Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast) held a meeting with Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua for Russian Affairs Laureano Ortega Murillo at the State Duma.
Vyacheslav Volodin and Laureano Ortega Murillo discussed enhancement of cooperation between Russia and Nicaragua within the parliamentary dimension.
The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that the cooperation was set by the presidents. “Relations between our countries are of a special nature and are traditionally built on the principles of friendship, mutual respect, non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
“Challenges only bring us closer. Thank you for your position at international organizations, the United Nations, where we stand shoulder to shoulder, share our views, upholding the right to a just multipolar world,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
“It is important for us to develop cooperation within the parliamentary dimension so that we can understand each other better and strengthen relations between our countries,” he said and added that when countries combine their capabilities, it is better for everyone.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, “our friendship is built on a disinterested basis.”
Creation of a high-level commission
Vyacheslav Volodin noted the necessity to find new formats of cooperation. He recalled that earlier the issue of creating a high-level commission between the State Duma and the National Assembly had been discussed with the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Nicaragua.
“If we reach a decision to sign an agreement on the creation of a high-level commission, we can hold its first meeting few days before the International Conference ‘Russia-Latin America’,” suggested Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma said that the International Parliamentary Conference is planned to be held on September 29-October 2. He invited Laureano Ortega Murillo and the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Nicaragua to take part in it.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, the Conference will allow “to discuss many issues related to the development of not only our economic relations, but also the implementation of humanitarian, educational programs, investment projects.”
The Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua thanked for the invitation and said that the members of the National Assembly would take part in the Conference “Russia-Latin America”.
“Inter-parliamentary cooperation is very important for us,” he stressed.
Laureano Ortega Murillo conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega to Russian President Vladimir Putin. “We love, appreciate and respect him,” he said.
According to him, the countries also continue to cooperate in such areas as healthcare, energy, trade and transport. Laureano Ortega Murillo, Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua for Russian Affairs, Advisor to the President on Investments, Trade and International Cooperation, expressed hope that joint economic projects between the two countries would develop more actively.
Laureano Ortega Murillo said that Nicaragua “supports Russia”. “As we were already saved once during the Great Patriotic War, Russia is now saving the whole world, and Russia will help to make the world better,” he said.
He also noted the importance of Russian culture for Nicaragua: “We do not support this madness — attempts to cancel Russian culture. Russian culture is wonderful and we want to see it in Nicaragua.”
“Only that nation has a future that protects its culture, traditions, language, history, faith,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
“You gained your sovereignty in a difficult struggle and you are doing everything to protect the people of Nicaragua. Therefore, we understand each other very well and will do everything possible in the interests of our citizens and states,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
