The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with the Chief of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ahmad Mortazavi
Moghaddam at the State Duma.
The meeting participants discussed issues related to exchanging experience in legislative processes, including related to protecting sovereignty, strengthening security and countering illegal Western sanctions.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted a constructive dialogue between the State Duma and the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) of Iran on a wide range of issues, including related to the economy and regional development, as well as to security and fight against terrorism. The dynamics of relations were set by the heads of our states, as he stressed.
“We should develop together effective solutions to counter challenges, share experience and best practices. Within the framework of the parliamentary dimension, we take measures aimed at protecting sovereignty of our country from foreign interference, preserving traditional values,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted the fact that there was the State Duma Commission on Investigation into Facts of Foreign Interference in Russia’s Internal Affairs, and the members of the State Duma expressed their readiness to share experience in legislative processes with Iranian colleagues.
“We need to work together to strengthen independence and national sovereignty of Russia and Iran in the interests of the citizens of our countries,” he added.
