He stressed d that “only a sovereign state can facilitate human development on the basis of the culture, history, language, respecting traditions and religion.”
“A country which has lost its sovereignty will not be able to do this. The citizens of that country will have to practice religion, culture, traditions, learn the history of the country which had enslaved them,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
According to him, that is the reason why Russia and Iran confront hegemony: “We think it would be right to unite the parliamentarians of all world countries to protect the sovereignty of each country, so that each nation can freely choose their own authorities, determine their own future.”
The delegation of the State Duma is paying an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran on January 22–23. The third meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma and the Parliament of Iran was held on January 23. The legislative support for trade and economic cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and agriculture, issues of cooperation in the Caspian Sea, regional security, countering terrorism and extremism were discussed at the meeting.
