“We arrived at 7 a.m. local time. We have laid flowers at the Memorial to the Soviet Internationalist Soldiers, who defended our country far from their homeland in Cuba for many years,” he texted.

The Chairman of the State Duma recalled that it was the first meeting in the last five years on the territory of Cuba due to the fact that countries are located quite far from each other and the pandemic situation.
“Russia and our citizens have been living in the sanctions conditions for eight years. But what about Cuba, as the state has been living under blockade since it had become an independent state. Sanctions against the proud freedom-loving people were imposed more than sixty years ago,” recalled Vyacheslav Volodin.
According to him, “the Soviet Union helped a lot. After its collapse, Cuba had to face all the challenges and problems alone. There are 180 kilometers between Cuba and the USA. It is not easy for Cubans to maintain sovereignty and independence.”
“We should develop our relations and help each other. Today's meetings will be aimed at that,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
