“The current situation is a result of the policy of aggressive meddling in the affairs of developing countries by the United States of America and the European Union. Most of the refugees came from countries that were affected by the international NATO military expansion, which has led to the destruction of peaceful life and foundations of government structures in these countries,” the statement said.
“Not being interested in constructive cooperation with the Republic of Belarus to resolve the migration crisis, the European Union avoids solving the problem and uses a policy of double standards in relation to the protection of human rights, application of international law and principles of humanity,” stressed the parliamentarians.
The members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia are convinced that such irresponsible state policy of Western countries, artificial aggravation of the situation and escalation of the migration crisis should be adequately assessed and become the subject of consideration by the relevant competent international structures and organizations.
The parliamentarians of Belarus and Russia call on the structures of the European Union to make an objective public assessment of such actions, to take concrete measures to resolve the crisis and express the hope that common sense and a constructive approach of the European and US authorities will help to fulfill their international obligations related to refugee rights.
“We call on PACE, OSCE PA, the European Parliament and other structures of the European Union to make an objective public assessment of such radical actions and take concrete measures to resolve the crisis,” the statement read.
