The Chairman of the State Duma emphasized that “first of all, we do not interfere in the US elections, and you should not interfere in our elections.”
“Secondly, it is not for the US congressmen to decide who should be and should not be the President of our country. That will be the citizens of the Russian Federation who will make such a decision,” he added.
According to Vyacheslav Volodin, such a resolution “once again proves that the US authorities do not want Russia to be strong”. “They are so afraid that it drives them to hysteria. They try to do everything to weaken our country and then they want to destroy it. They need a change of power in our country to make it possible”, he wrote.
“Today it has become evident that Putin is Russia's advantage. All those attacks on him are attacks on our country aimed at its weakening,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
He also recalled that those people who initiated such resolutions had earlier supported Gorbachev, encouraged Yeltsin, but “people still remember well all those ordeals that our citizens had had to experience because of the weakness of the leaders of the state and betrayal of the elites, definitely guided not by the national interests.”
“Washington has not fulfilled any of the promises made after the USSR collapse. Instead of aid and investments, there are sanctions and blockades, instead of peace and friendship, there is NATO near our borders,” wrote Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma noted the fact that “if our country were weak, and the President could be controlled by the overseas powers, there would be no threats and calls not to recognize the elections”.
“Therefore, such statements once again prove that we have chosen the right way and that the citizens of our country had made the right choice by electing Vladimir Putin as the President,” concluded Vyacheslav Volodin.
