Earlier, the commander of United States Naval Forces Europe-Africa, Admiral Robert Burke said that Russia’s actions provoked a response and there might be attempts at “baiting NATO into shooting first”.

said that Robert Burke continued to use those words which were common for US authorities, as Washington continued “to hang the blame on someone else.”

“Perhaps, that is an attempt to use anti-Russian hysteria to disguise the real intentions of NATO member states to escalate the situation in the Black Sea region. That is not just verbal sabre-rattling, such statements are very destructive and dangerous,” stressed the parliamentarian.

“It is quite strange to hear such [Robert] Burke’s words after the recent incident with the British destroyer which illegally entered the territorial waters of the Russian Federation. The Russian border patrol ships professionally and carefully prevented the real provocation. We will continue to secure the state border and give a strong response to everyone who violates our borders,” said Leonid Slutskiy.
