took part in the working meeting on countering foreign interference in the upcoming elections, held at the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation. The parliamentarian presented to the Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova materials on foreign interference collected by the State Duma Commission on the Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia's Internal Affairs.

“As the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation will also deal with the issues of foreign interference, we have prepared and are ready to present you illustrative facts of recent foreign interference. We have examined all these materials in detail at the meetings of the Commission with the participation of representatives of the competent authorities,” he said.

The materials presented at the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation include fragments of video records and screen shots of documents of some non-governmental organizations and media recognized in Russia as undesirable.

“Those materials demonstrate the training procedures conducted by undesirable NGOs in foreign states, as well as materials of webinars and “methodology” on achievement of a certain result in elections. In a word, all these materials prove systematic work of the Western states aimed at meddling in our voting processes and make their “agents of influence” representatives of the Russian authorities,” added Vasilii Piskarev.

The Chairman of the Commission stressed that “current Russian legislation allows to hold open and fair elections on a competitive basis, and it is important to do everything so our voters will do their own choice.”

“There are also specific rules for participation in elections of persons recognized as “foreign agents” and affiliated with them. They are still allowed to participate in the elections, but they should indicate their status in the prescribed documents. We will also continue to monitor the actions of foreign structures, which are prohibited from influencing the election campaign. They have been warned, the prohibition is enshrined in the law. It is necessary to expose them in a timely manner and prevent violations of Russian legislation,” stressed Vasilii Piskarev.
