Parliamentarians from Russia and Belarus discussed preparation of model legislation
Priority issue is providing support for decisions of the presidents of two states

about progressive development and convergence of views, first of all, we should
start with legislative support for the decisions of the heads of our states,”

He also emphasized that parliamentarians should work more effectively on the harmonization of legislations and preparation of model laws.
The Chairman of the State Duma also stressed the importance of developing cross-border cooperation between the two states. He recalled the session of the Parliamentary Assembly held in Bryansk before the pandemic started. Viacheslav Volodin proposed to pay attention to other regions, where in the future it would be possible “to discuss implementation of youth programmes, humanitarian projects and issues of cross-border cooperation.”
“Issues of cross-border cooperation could become a good basis for joint development in the interests of our nations within the framework of the Union State,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.
Protection of sovereignty of Belarus
First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko especially noted the support provided by Russia against the background of attempts by Western states to destabilize the situation in Belarus.
“I am convinced that an intensive dialogue between the heads of our states and governments on the deepening of strategic partnership and development of the Union will be a decent response to both foreign and internal opponents of the Union State,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
The Union State budget
The parliamentarians from Russia and Belarus also discussed amendments to the Decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State “On the budget of the Union State for 2020”, the report of the Council of Ministers of the Union State on the budget execution of the Union State for 2020 and preparation of the budget for 2021.
The next 61st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus and Russia will be held in Russia.
