said that the Committee advised to consider the bill on denouncing the Treaty on Open Skies in the shortest possible time, maybe even next week.

“We see the current situation with the Open Skies Treaty, so there is no doubt that the parliament will unanimously support the proposal of the President of the Russian Federation to denounce the Treaty,” he said. “All procedures related to withdrawal from the Treaty would be completed by the end of May, that issue will not be delayed,” said the parliamentarian.

“That will be a forced decision for Russia against the background of the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the Treaty and the absence of legal guarantees from European partners that the results of the aerial observation missions over Russian territory will not be provided to the US side. We have repeatedly stated our position. That is too bad that the Western states are destroying trust and transparency in such important issue as international security,” stressed Leonid Slutskiy.
