“It is important that [the elections] should be held in transparent, competitive and legitimate manner, and in strict accordance with national legislation. At the same time, a prevention of foreign interference in our election campaign will be the priority issue,” he said and added that the US and NATO member states were expected to interfere in the elections as they had already done it before.

recalled that the United States had always justified its interference in the internal affairs of other countries by the need to implement high standards of American democracy.

“Today, it is obvious that the politicians in the United States of America do not use these standards themselves,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.

He called the US electoral system archaic and noted the lack of transparency and public control. The Chairman of the State Duma added that a unified and effective institution of international election observers was not presented there.

“The state with such a non-transparent electoral process has no right to impose anything on other states and to interfere in their election campaigns. We will not allow those people who have led their party and political system to degradation and encroached on the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, to talk to us in mentor manner,” said Viacheslav Volodin.

He noted a deep internal split in the US society with enmity unleashed throughout the country. The reason is that ”for many years, the US political elite have been stoking the US citizens, using racial, religious, gender, and political differences.“

Viacheslav Volodin stressed that this was unacceptable and recalled that such power struggle in the United States led to the storming of parliament and human casualties.

“We have always been against violent unconstitutional actions, and today I want to emphasize it once again. And the United States of America, on the contrary, encouraged and supported such processes in many states, interfering in their sovereign affairs,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.

He noted that the US authorities called participants of unauthorized political actions in other countries “freedom and democracy fighters”, but when the same events took place in the United States, they called those people “domestic terrorists” and they can face up to 15–20 years in jail, and they will be political prisoners.

“Washington should admit: either this is a policy of double standards, or there are people who paid their price because of their different political views,” said Viacheslav Volodin.

At the same time, he noted the stability of Russian party and political system, which had proved its effectiveness for twenty years. Viacheslav Volodin stressed that it should be necessary to protect the right of citizens of the Russian Federation to elect and be elected from encroachments by foreign states. “Citizens of the Russian Federation will make their own choice without foreign pressure,” concluded the Chairman of the State Duma.
