According to him, the meeting participants discussed issues of development of Russia-Germany cooperation, including support for the Nord Stream 2 project.
“Alternative for Germany is a very important political force that constantly supports the construction of this energy project most important for Europe, and had twice raised in the Bundestag the issue that the German authorities should take clear and explicit position on this project,” recalled Aleksandr Zhukov.
“Unfortunately, current relations between Germany and Russia are going through times that are not of the best, but we are open for cooperation with our Bundestag colleagues, and the parliamentary group of the Alternative for Germany Party also tries to do everything possible to improve our relations,” stressed the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.
“We are very grateful to our colleagues, who, first of all, hear Russia’s position and are ready to do their best to normalize relations between our countries on a mutually beneficial basis,” he said.
Tino Chrupalla is convinced
that the meeting was really successful: “We held constructive negotiations and expressed our readiness to continue our cooperation.”
“We believe that it is necessary to complete the construction of Nord Stream 2, as this project is a very important part of our energy agenda,” said the co-chairman of the co-chairman of the parliamentary group of the Alternative for Germany Party.
“We are convinced that the dialogue should be continued, because it is the basis for security in Europe,” stressed Tino Chrupalla.
Member of the Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs Armin-Paulus Hampel stressed that trust is a very important thing in cooperation between the two countries. “Now, unfortunately, we see that there is lack of trust, but we believe that such situation should be overcome. Our party will do everything possible for that, we should intend on making good. We believe that maintenance of stability in Europe is only possible with Russia’s participation. That is why we are here today,” he concluded.
Earlier, delegation of German parliamentarians headed by the Chairman of the German-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Group of the German Bundestag Robby Schlund held a meeting with Russian parliamentarians at the State Duma. The parliamentarians agreed to continue and develop cooperation.
