Viacheslav Volodin: foreign states that want to escalate tensions in Russia may be responsible for current Navalny’s condition

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
is convinced that the statement of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel about the situation with Alexey Navalny and the statement of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell may point to the truth behind the incident.

Commenting on the health condition of Alexey Navalny, Viacheslav Volodin expressed his gratitude to “the pilots who had immediately reacted to the extraordinary situation when the passenger had felt worse and took a decision to land in Omsk”.

“It is important to note the professional actions of doctors, not only at the regional, but also at the federal level, who immediately began resuscitation and held consultations. It is important that all patients should be treated equally,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.

“In our country, people who need help are not divided into categories. Whether they are representatives of the ruling party or the opposition,” said Viacheslav Volodin.

He also added: “It is very good that Angela Merkel decided to help and provided assistance to Alexey Navalny. I would like to believe that she would have done the same if any other citizen of the Russian Federation, and not just a radical dissident, had got in such situation.“

“However, the subsequent statements of Angela Merkel and Josep Borrell make us rethink the situation and ask a question: maybe it was a provocation of Germany and other EU states to prepare new allegations against our country,” Viacheslav Volodin stressed and added: “It is noteworthy that such situation took place just after the presidential elections in the Republic of Belarus, when foreign states started to exert pressure on Russia, so that our country would not prevent foreign interference in the internal affairs of Belarus. At the same time, the EU states, Ukraine and the United States began to interfere brazenly in the internal affairs of the sovereign state of Belarus, provide assistance to the opposition and arrange provocations. If you look at the events from a different perspective, it all falls into place.“

“We need to comprehensively study what exactly happened. The State Duma Committee on Security will be instructed to analyze the details of the situation to find out if it had been an attempt of foreign states to cause harm to health of a Russian citizen to escalate tensions in Russia, as well as to prepare new allegations against our country,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
