prepared an appeal in connection with the growing threat of the spread of coronavirus. It will be sent within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

In his appeal, he reminded that earlier the United States, the EU, Great Britain, Ukraine, and Georgia did not allow the UN General Assembly to adopt a Russian draft resolution calling for the lifting of unilateral sanctions that prevent countries from combating coronavirus. And before this, Russia proposed to the General Assembly to adopt the Declaration of Solidarity of the United Nations in the Face of the Challenges Posed by the Coronavirus Disease 2019.

According to Leonid Slutskiy, such an inhumane attitude of some states makes it difficult to obtain quality medical care for citizens of such countries as Iran and Venezuela and also does not contribute to the effective recovery of national economies, including the states of the European continent.

“As the head of the Russian Peace Foundation and the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, I appeal to all rational politicians in the leadership of the European Union, the USA, Great Britain, leading international and inter-parliamentary organizations to abandon the destructive sanctions policy. In the light of the global epidemic threat, it’s time to stop thinking within the deterrence paradigm that puts ordinary people on the brink of survival today,” the appeal of Leonid Slutskiy says.
