In turn, the Ambassador expressed deep appreciation to the Russian leadership and personally to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, to all the people of Russia for their sympathy, solidarity and support during such difficult time for the Chinese people.
The guest particularly expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the State Duma for ”sincere and timely moral and political support“ through the Russian-Chinese inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Ivan Melnikov, in turn, said that the State Duma “condemns the attempts of some unfriendly forces to use this situation to reduce credibility of Chinese citizens, entrepreneurs, and students. Presenting the situation that they are almost a threat to the whole world. We will counter informationally such provocations together,” he said.
The First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma commended the work of Chinese doctors, who are fighting dedicatedly for life and health of each person. He wished them strength and resilience in these difficult time and also paid attention to the expressions of solidarity through public diplomacy.
“In addition to inter-state interaction, which we are well aware of, there are also actions of solidarity with the friendly Chinese people entitled “Hold on, China. We are with you!“ “This is always especially touching and strengthens the foundation of friendship of our nations at the level of public diplomacy,” stressed Ivan Melnikov.
Ambassador Zhang Hanhui gave detailed information about the consistent and extraordinary steps of the Chinese leadership aimed at stopping and addressing the epidemic as efficiently as possible. At the same time, the Ambassador noted that the fact that coronavirus spread mostly inside the PRC, Beijing takes it as responsibility to the world community and its contribution to ensuring international security.
In conclusion, Ivan Melnikov and Zhang Hanhui expressed mutual confidence in overcoming the threat of the coronavirus as soon as possible and spoke in favor of further strengthening of strategic interaction between Russia and China both in terms of bilateral relations and in the international arena.
