“The US ambassador to Poland insults not only the citizens of Russia and the former republics of the USSR but also the United States of America itself. Ignorance of history or its deliberate distortion is unacceptable when official representatives of a country that was part of the anti-Hitler coalition make such statements on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Victory.

When the world was on the brink of an abyss, no one in the US leadership could even have thought of comparing Hitler and Stalin. The Soviet Union suffered an irreparable loss, more than 27 million were killed in that war, the United States and Britain lost 850 thousand soldiers and officers. Despite the ideological differences of the states, our grandfathers freed the world from fascism together, shoulder to shoulder. It is necessary to remember this and honor their memory.

Nobody considered Stalin a tyrant when Churchill and Roosevelt sat at the same table with him in Yalta and discussed the post-war structure of the world. History has put everything in its place. Today, there are attempts to cynically rewrite it and pervert everything that happened 80 years ago. This is unacceptable and insulting for us, whose grandfathers were left buried in European countries, having given their lives for the future of Europe and the whole world.

It would be right for the US Department of State to test ambassadors’ knowledge of the history of the state where they are sent to work,” said Viacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin
