The Chairman of the State Duma invited Richard Ferrand to visit Russia and noted that it is necessary to restart the work of the Russian-French inter-parliamentary commission.
“I would like to mention a very important point for our bilateral relations — this is the proposal of France to establish a center for studying European history to develop its common vision, and Russia's participation in this work would be very useful,” said Richard Ferrand.
The Chairman of the State Duma said that this is an amazing idea and supported it. “We are all interested in making history alive even today, regardless of politics,” he emphasized.
“Our task is to restore the work of the bilateral commission, and this work should be restarted,” Richard Ferrand said. He believes that it is necessary to find time and place in 2020 to meet and start its work.
Viacheslav Volodin noted that it doesn’t matter where the parliamentarians gather in Paris or Moscow: “The main thing for us is to get together, determine a strategy and start working.”
In particular, the issue of establishing a center for studying European history could be discussed within the framework of this commission.
The parties also discussed the international agenda, in particular, the situation in Syria.
