Viacheslav Volodin emphasized the need for dialogue between European countries. “It is important that you support such a dialogue,” he addressed the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

“Each period of history has its own challenges. And we need to unite our efforts to face new challenges: drug trafficking, illegal migration, terrorism,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.

Viacheslav Volodin also invited Marija Pejčinović Burić to Moscow to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory.

“We must preserve the historical memory of those who gave their lives, liberating Europe from fascism,” he said.

Speaking about the need to preserve historical memory, Viacheslav Volodin told Marija Pejčinović Burić about the members of his family who died during the Second World War. She said that she was touched by his personal story and shared his position on the need to honor the memory of the war and the deceased.

This is the first visit of the Chairman of the State Duma to Strasbourg since 2013. Viacheslav Volodin came to France to attend the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament. Within the framework of the visit, Viacheslav Volodin will also hold bilateral meetings with PACE President Liliane Maury Pasquier and speakers of national parliaments.
