“The 4th Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments has been held today. This is a response to the request for dialogue, a really effective format, the operating institute of speakers and members of the parliaments of the countries of Eurasia,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma at the final briefing following the event and noted that existing institutions and organizations have sometimes a long history, “but do not show requests and they don’t solve the problems that our countries are facing today.”

The participants can openly discuss issues of concern in the framework of the Meeting of Speakers unlike in European institutes of inter-parliamentary interaction. The Chairman of the State Duma emphasized that this format is “absolutely depoliticized,” while many inter-parliamentary structures are often guilty of interfering in the affairs of sovereign states. In addition, this format is ‘alien to conventions and bureaucracy.’
“The parliamentary structure should first of all deal with issues of harmonization of legislation, propose model laws in the interests of society,” Viacheslav Volodin believes.
“We made a decision that reflects the requests of states and, most importantly, reflects the agenda, which we consider it appropriate to identify,” said the Chairman of the State Duma on the adopted statement following the 4th Meeting of Speakers.
He reiterated the importance of the dialogue that underlies trust and partnership and pointed out that now many international institutions are being criticized, including the UN, and the established agreements are being violated.
Viacheslav Volodin noted that the decision to hold the next Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments in Indonesia was made due to the fact that it would be right to learn more about the life in East Asia.
