Leonid Slutskiy: politicians who we can talk with appear in the Verkhovna Rada

Leonid Slutskiy, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, commented on the elections to the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, which took place the day before. In particular, he noted that "now all responsibility for the fate of the Minsk agreements, first of all, their political part, falls on the new authority"

“According to preliminary data, the presidential party “Servant of the People” can get 243 seats in the new Rada and form a majority on its own. Now the entire responsibility for the fate of the Minsk agreements, first of all, their political part, falls on the new authority. The settlement in the Donbas depends on how fully and quickly they will be fulfilled,” Leonid Slutskiy Slutsky Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky

said.

He stressed that the extraordinary elections to the Verkhovna Rada confirmed the mandate of people's confidence in President Vladimir Zelensky and at the same time the complete collapse of the policies of his predecessor Petr Poroshenko.

“Such a low result of the Party “European Solidarity” suggests that ordinary Ukrainians are tired of the course towards war, tired of poverty and corruption. But whether the new head of state and members of “Servant of the People” can make a difference is still a question,” the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs noted.

He also stressed that if the data of exit polls are confirmed, the party “Opposition Platform — For Life” will become the second political force in the Ukrainian parliament, and “this will be a huge success.”

“As for relations with Russia, I don’t expect any special changes here. However, we hope that sooner or later common sense will prevail. At least in the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, there are politicians who we can talk with and conduct constructive dialogue,” concluded Leonid Slutskiy.
