Zinaida Greceanîi in her speech, in particular, noted the fact that this is the first visit of the head of the highest legislative body of the Republic of Moldova to the State Duma in recent years.

“Not so long ago, relations between our countries have experienced a difficult period,” she said, expressing confidence that “the unmotivated interruption in cooperation between our countries has almost been overcome.”

Commenting on the political crisis in Moldova, she noted that only through ”dialogue; finding consensus and abandoning personal ambitions it is possible to build stability and peace.“

“Thanks to the efforts of the presidents of our countries, Vladimir V. Putin and Igor N. Dodon, a number of problems have been solved in such areas as the return of Moldovan producers to the Russian market,” she noted, stressing that the Moldovan products, especially agricultural, are loved and appreciated in the Russian market.

Zinaida Greceanîi in her speech also raised the issue of amnesty for Moldovan labor migrants working in Russia.

“There are a number of issues that need to be resolved. […] This is enhanced cooperation in the energy sector, invitation to Russian business community to invest in the economy of Moldova, this is also progress towards resolving the Transnistrian issue in the interests of the residents of both banks of the Dniester River with the assistance of all participants of this negotiation process. […] This is the enhanced cooperation between our countries in the cultural, educational and other areas. This is the social protection of Moldovan citizens who live and work in the territory of the Russian Federation,” she said.

In addition, the Chairwoman of the Moldovan Parliament noted that “many opportunities have been lost in recent years” in Russian-Moldovan cooperation.

“However, it is in our common interest to return the relations between our countries to an appropriate level. We will restore meaningful partnership between Moldova and Russia and our other partners. And it is most importantly to fill these relationships with concrete content,” she emphasized.

Concluding her speech, Zinaida Greceanîi thanked the members of the State Duma for their cooperation.

“Moldova is a beautiful country. With beautiful good-hearted people. We welcome everyone and we invite everyone to visit our country. We do not want and we will not conflict. We want to be free and, of course, independent. And we will never forget the good gestures of our friends,” she concluded.

Earlier, Zinaida Greceanîi had already met with the Chairman of the State Duma as the head of the faction of the Party of Socialists in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. She was elected Chairman of the Parliament of Moldova on June 8, 2019.
