The State Duma will review the President’s bill on the suspension of the INF Treaty on June 18

, noting that the bill of the head of state was reviewed at an extraordinary meeting of the State Duma Council on May 30 and sent to the relevant authorities for comments until June 10.

The Committee on International Affairs was appointed as the executor committee for this draft law, the Committee on Defense and the Committee on Security and Corruption Control were defined as contributors.

On Thursday, May 30, President Vladimir Putin introduced into the State Duma a draft federal law “On suspension by the Russian Federation of the Treaty Between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on the Elimination of Their Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles”. The treaty was signed by the two states in Washington on December 8, 1987. On February 2, 2019, the United States of America unilaterally suspended the fulfillment of its obligations under the Treaty.

According to the document, the President is granted the right to decide on the renewal of the treaty. The law will enter into force from the date of its official publication.
