The Chairman of the State Duma believes that the CSTO member states should focus on the effective legislation to address issues of combating terrorism.

meeting is a starting point of holding the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan, we talked about this literally the day before, if you think it

The Chairman of the State Duma drew attention to the fact that the Russian Federation and Armenia are members of the CSTO, “it means a special level of trust in each other, a united security platform, and, of course, we must do everything to create an effective legislation to resolve issues related to overcoming challenges, combating terrorism, and ensuring security.”
He also reminded that next month the chairmen of parliaments would have the opportunity to meet in Moscow within the framework of the International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism”, then in late September at the Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments.
“For us, the most important thing is to have a dialogue, because only on the basis of a dialogue, when we discuss issues with each other, trust is born. When there is trust between politicians, there is trust between states,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
In his turn, Ararat Mirzoyan said that he accepted the invitation of the Russian side to participate in the International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” in June in Moscow, he also noted that it is highly likely that the CSTO PA session would be held in Yerevan in the autumn. Moreover, the President of the National Assembly voiced a proposal to hold the next Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments in Armenia in 2020.
The bilateral meeting between Viacheslav Volodin and Ararat Mirzoyan on the eve of the meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council became their first official meeting but the day before they were able to meet informally on board a Russian plane that brought both delegations from Moscow to Bishkek.
During the bilateral meeting, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that ”these two meetings have already filled the vacuum in the interaction of the State Duma and the National Assembly, which had previously formed.“
On Monday, May 20, Viacheslav Volodin, being the head of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, will hold a meeting of the organization’s Council. The harmonization of legislation of the CSTO member states is among the issues on the agenda. On the same day, a meeting of the members of the CSTO PA Council with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov will take place.
