The delegation of the State
Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, headed by the Chairman of the Committee Iaroslav Nilov
Yaroslav Evgenievich
, held several meetings with the leadership of the International Labour Organization during a working visit to Geneva (Switzerland).
The Russian delegation also included representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation and the Pension Fund.
The first day of the visit of the delegation to Geneva began with negotiations with ILO's Deputy Director-General for Policy Deborah Greenfield. Ms. Greenfield visited Moscow in September 2018 and held talks with members of the Committee in the State Duma, so the current meeting was a continuation of the discussion of previously raised issues.
Deborah Greenfield in her speech once again noted the favorable impressions of her September visit to Russia and expressed confidence that further interaction between the Russian parliament and the ILO would be continued on the basis of constructive and fruitful cooperation on all discussed issues.
Iaroslav Nilov, in his turn, stressed the importance of holding such meetings for mutually beneficial exchange of experience: “This is facilitated by the most transparent format of the Committee’s core activities and openness of the ILO to discuss best practices from other countries, followed by adaptation and partial use of them in Russian law-enforcement practice.”
Parliamentarians also met with ILO's Deputy Director-General for Field Operations and Partnerships Moussa Oumarou, Assistant ILO Director-General and Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Heinz Koller, Director of ILO Multilateral Cooperation Department Christophe Perrin and Head of the European Countries Department Christian Hess.
The parties exchanged views on the future of the world labor market, its impact on the diversification of regional markets and also proposed to improve the dialogue between workers and employers. As members of the Russian delegation said, many ideas after additional review and consideration can be integrated into relevant legislative initiatives in this area.
At the end of a series of meetings and negotiations, members of the Committee presented the ILO foreign partners memorable gifts.
The study visit of the Russian delegation will come to the end on November 23.
