On November 22, in Ankara, the parliamentarians met with the Chairman of the Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Ismet Yılmaz. Issues of enhancing contacts between the parliaments of the two countries were the main topic of the discussion. In particular, measures to expand antiterrorist cooperation and the exchange of experience in the sphere of countering cyber-terrorism were discussed.

Ismet Yilmaz supported the idea of holding an international conference on cybersecurity with the participation of Turkey, Iran, China and other countries organized by the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption in Moscow.

stressed that the expansion of cooperation in this sphere and the rapid exchange of information about computer incidents and system vulnerabilities will help prevent actions of cyber-terrorists against the crucial infrastructure objects of our countries.

The participants of the meeting noted the need to create legislative barriers to stop activities aimed at encouraging children to commit unlawful acts dangerous to their lives and the lives of others, including the promotion of drugs, suicide, romanization of school violence.

Ismet Yılmaz said that Turkey faces similar problems. According to him, there have been cases when such sites have been blocked, but often they are administered from abroad, and joint efforts at the international level are needed. The exchange of experience, the study of the legislation of the neighbors will certainly be useful. The conference in Moscow can be an important practical step in this direction, the Chairman of the Commission noted.

The issues of countering the spread of drugs were also discussed. Vasilii Piskarev spoke about the Russian experience and legislative initiatives in this sphere. “In particular, in November, the Committee on Security and Corruption Control developed and submitted to the State Duma a draft law that will help prevent their dissemination via the Internet,” said the parliamentarian. It is proposed to establish a ban on propaganda, advertising, distribution of the information about new psychoactive substances, the places of their production and distribution, as well as the benefits over other drugs in the media and the Internet.

The Chairman of the Committee on Security and Corruption Control also informed the Turkish counterpart about plans to hold the International Parliamentary Conference ”Parliamentarians against drugs“ in Moscow at the end of 2019.
