Member of the Committee on International Affairs, representative of the LDPR faction Anton Morozov
Anton Yurieviсh
commented on the on the decision of the current German Chancellor Angela Merkel
to step down in 2021: “She has provided both positive and negative input. So far,
she cannot be credited with improving relations with Russia. Of course, we
would like to see a more diplomatic politician who will be more focused on the interests of European states, and not just continue to rubber-stamp decisions
made in Washington,” Anton Morozov said.
The parliamentarian stressed that Russia is ready to work with any politician who will be elected as the new Chancellor of Germany.
In addition, member of the Committee on International Affairs made a comment about the upcoming meeting of Russian and US leaders Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which is to be held on November 11 in Paris. Mr. Morozov noted that, first of all, the heads of state should discuss issues related to the situation in the Middle East and areas of influence in the international political space.
“We, from the parliamentary point of view, commend any bilateral interaction between Russia and the United States, especially at the highest level. If this meeting takes place, I am sure that issues of quite a broad political spectrum and current international agenda will be discussed. First of all, these are the issues of Middle East settlement, issues related to the division of influence and, in general, issues of war and peace,” Mr. Morozov said.
The parliamentarian also expressed hope that the upcoming meeting of presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will ease tensions between the two countries.
