“By providing the legislative support, our goal is to create conditions for further prospects for the development of relations,” said Viacheslav Volodin. He stressed that the presidents of Russia and Indonesia set the task of reaching a level of $ 5 billion in goods turnover between the countries. ‘This is a very serious indicator that will show truly mutually beneficial relations,’ the Chairman of the State Duma stressed.
“I would like to once again express my gratitude for your position on refusing to participate in economic sanctions against Russia. Last year our trade grew by 25% and amounted to about $3 billion 300 million,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
“This is a good result, but we need to strive for development and increase trade turnover in order to reach $5 billion,” said the Chairman of the State Duma. He believes that this is a difficult and ambitious task, but all the prerequisites for this exist.
“It is important for us to develop cooperation in the sphere of nuclear energy and agriculture, there are prospects in the sphere of civil aviation and shipbuilding,” he stressed. Agricultural products hold the first position of Russian exports, last year wheat supplies to Indonesia increased sevenfold.
According to Viacheslav Volodin, it is very important to develop inter-parliamentary contacts for this; such contacts should be regular. The Chairman of the State Duma reminded that Zulkifli Hasan, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, visited Russia several times. He participated in the conference ”Parliamentarians against drugs“, as well as in the International Forum ”Development of parliamentarism.“
During the meeting, Oesman Sapta stressed that Indonesia always listens with interest to all Russian proposals on increasing trade and developing economic relations. “He invited the Chairman of the State Duma and its members to visit Indonesia on a working visit to discuss further development of relations. Oesman Sapta also reminded that seven months ago Indonesia sent a request to assist in finding a new complex of buildings for the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Moscow, as the current one does not meet the requirements, to the Russian Foreign Ministry. “We will sincerely appreciate your help,” he said. Viacheslav Volodin agreed that ‘it is necessary to solve the issues of Embassy accommodation so that it is not only convenient to work and represent the interests of the country, but also to reflect the level of our relations, and they are reaching a strategic level.’
