spoke about the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Russia and Turkey.
“A variety of Russian-Turkish military-technical and economic projects is evidence to the the development of Russian-Turkish relations. I believe that one of the main projects of Russian-Turkish cooperation is the TurkStream gas pipeline, which will go under the Black Sea and will transport 31.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year”, Chepa said.
The parliamentarian also stressed the fact that ”in April this year work on the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant finally began”. According to him, the commissioning of the first power unit is planned in 2023.
The member of the State Duma added that ”in December 2017 an agreement on the delivery of the latest S-400 surface-to-air missile systems to the Turkish side by Russia was also reached“.
”The recent agreement between the Presidents of Russia and Turkey on the zone of de-escalation in the province of Idlib is a clear example of joint work. This was discussed at the session of the UN General Assembly. I am confident that in the future economic ties between our countries will continue to strengthen, and trade turnover will grow. I hope that our Turkish colleagues are equally positive about the prospects of our strategic partnership, ‘Aleksei Chepa added.
The roundtable ”Russia and Turkey: directions of strategic partnership“ was organized with the support of the public figure of Azerbaijan, the Chevalier of the Order ”Azerbaijan Banner“, the legendary scout Ibad Huseynov and the Russian-Turkish Public Forum.
Participants of the event discussed the opening opportunities in the sphere of economic, political, cultural and military cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Russia, as well as mechanisms for overcoming the obstacles. State and public figures of three countries were invited to participate in the event.
