The following issues will be discussed by the parties: promotion of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Iran, and interaction of the regions of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran in this area. The role of parliaments in the establishment of sustainable peace and security, and the fight against terrorism is planned to be discussed.
The preparation for the conference of parliament speakers on terrorism and interregional cooperation that will be held in Tehran in late November this year will be also discussed. In addition, the prospects for changing of the situation in the Persian Gulf region, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Middle East, as well as the creation of a cybersecretary on the digital economy will be considered by the participants.

our parliaments are developing quite dynamically, we are doing everything to ensure the realization of the decisions taken at the highest level by our
Presidents”.
He noted that the session of the Commission is held on the eve of the meetings of the heads of the Russian Federation and Iran. ”Therefore, it is important for us to do everything to legislatively support the decisions that were made earlier and in the future to continue this work, taken into account that the dynamics of relations are set by the leaders of our countries,“ said Viacheslav Volodin. ”In this regard, the parliamentary dimension should develop the forms of interaction that would be most effective“.
The Chairman of the State Duma stated that the Commission on Cooperation and joint effective work of the relevant committees of the State Duma and the Majlis of Iran can be such forms.
”In this case, we will follow the agenda, which reflects real problems and tasks today,“ believes Viacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma noted that the relations between Russia and Iran are developing dynamically. ”I would like to emphasize that our relations have concrete changes: the trade turnover between our countries has grown by almost 30% compared to last year, the process of mutual settlement in national currency funds is growing, and, of course, the implementation of projects in the sphere of transport and energy deserves support and monitoring within the framework of our Commission,“ he said.
Chairman of the Iranian Majlis Ali Larijani agreed with the high assessment of Russian-Iranian cooperation.
”I have an impression that we have similar views on the development of our relations. The level of our discussions has grown significantly, and we have come to the point where it is time to make concrete decisions, for example, in the trade, agricultural and transport spheres. This interaction is of great value for all of us,“ the head of the Iranian Majlis said.

The decision to create such commission was made during the official visit of the delegation of the State Duma led by Viacheslav Volodin to Iran on 9 April 2018. The commission is designed to promote the expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Iran. The Commission's regulation provides for regular parliamentary consultations on issues of mutual interest, including in such areas as energy, transport, industry, science, education, technology exchange, tourism, and security issues.
