Viacheslav Volodin will hold the first session of the Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma and the Iranian Majlis

The Commission is designed to promote the expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Iran. The decision to create such Commission was made during the official visit of the delegation of the State Duma led by Viacheslav Volodin Volodin

Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast) to Iran on 9 April 2018. The Commission's regulation provides for regular parliamentary consultations on issues of mutual interest, including in such areas as energy, transport, industry, science, education, technology exchange, tourism, and security issues.

The parliamentarians of the two countries will work out mechanisms for cooperation at the level of the Commission and relevant committees and outline a plan for work on the unification of national legislation within the framework of deepening bilateral cooperation.

Within the framework of the parliamentary consultations, Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin will meet Ali Larijani, the Chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The parties are planning to discuss issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation on various platforms in relation to regional security issues, fighting terrorism and drug trafficking, as well as interregional economic interaction.
