believes that Russia should hardly be afraid of the ”unpleasant surprises“ that Ukraine allegedly is preparing at the forthcoming UN General Assembly.

”The Ukrainian Permanent Representative to the UN promised ‘unpleasant surprises’ to the Russian delegation at the General Assembly. “Unpleasant surprises”, given the way the current regime treats its own citizens, are, of course, in the Kiev’s manner. However, unfortunately, they harm only themselves,” Slutskiy told reporters.

At the same time, he links the strengthening of anti-Russian rhetoric in Ukraine with the pre-election situation in the country. “The presidential elections are ahead, and the rating of the current head of the state is unacceptably low. And playing the anti-Russian card is unlikely to help the current Kiev authorities,” the committee head concluded.

The 73rd session of the UN General Assembly will open on 18 September 2018. US President Donald Trump, the leaders of 109 other states and 86 heads of government and foreign ministers will participate. According to the program, at the opening of the 73rd session of the General Assembly, Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
