commented on the decision of the Russian delegation:
We took such decision because the Regulations on adopting resolutions were violated by an absence of authors of the anti-Russian resolution, Ukrainian parliamentarians. According to the Regulations, they shall duly notify the Chairman of the Assembly, Giorgi Tsereteli. He informed us that he only got a phone call and text message. And even if they used mail pigeon – such notification does not have legal force! It shall be only written notification and nothing else. And the absence of authors and co-authors of the resolution make their signatures under it useless.
It is an insult to our country that we are fed up with, we are not going to participate in this contact zoo. Our dear European colleagues headed by Tsereteli allow themselves not only interpreting some facts as they want but they going on with written rules and procedures. That is why the Russian delegation left the conference hall and is not going to return to it during this session.
“Protest of the Russian
delegation at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is a fitting
response. However, it does not mean that we will leave PA OSCE completely. We
will continue to use it to promote Russian foreign policy course,”
